Ehsaas to set up 17 new shelters

The federal government has devised a plan to set up 17 new shelter homes in various districts in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), Balochistan, Punjab and Gilgit-Baltistan.

Ehsaas is the incumbent government’s initiative that was launched with the aim of reducing inequality, investing in people and lifting up lagging districts, with the end goal being the creation of a true welfare state. Many programs have been enacted under this umbrella initiative to achieve this end, one of which is the establishment of the aforementioned shelters.

The new shelters or ‘Panahgahs‘ are to be set up before August 14, with an additional 4 mobile shelters to be set up in districts of Balochistan, which would go around providing food for those in need. The mobile shelters, however, would not have housing facilities.

The shelters will contain all basic amenities such as bathroom facilities, power back-ups, and self-service dining halls. Currently, 17 such shelters are open in 17 districts across the nation.

This new string of shelter homes will indeed go a long way in helping to alleviate the ills that poverty inflicts on Pakistan’s citizens.
