Facebook’s SheMeansBusiness program launches in Peshawar

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Information Technology Board (KPITB) and DEMO recently came together to launch Facebook’s SheMeansBusiness program through a 3-day digital marketing and financial management workshop, in Peshawar.

The SheMeansBusiness program aims to support women-led businesses in the digital economy through the provision of skills and business training to help advance these entrepreneurs’ enterprises.

Durshal community spaces in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa hosted the aforementioned workshops, and women entrepreneurs from multiple industries, including hospitality, education, and healthcare, attended. The content covered in the training sessions revolved around useful digital and financial skills such as content creation, digital marketing, financial management and social media tools. The training incorporated these topics through presentations as well as practical demonstrations for the attendees.

Muhammad Bin Masood, CEO of DEMO, expressed how pleased he was with the response the program received, adding that “the launch of SheMeansBusiness program will help women from KPK learn from a world class curriculum and apply digital and financial literacy tools to improve their businesses.”

Dr. Sahibzada Ali Mahmud, the Managing Director of KPITB, also stated that she hoped that “this initiative will help in advancing the scope of digital skills of KPK’s women entrepreneurs” and bring a significant change in the economy.

With more workshops to be conducted in the coming months at Durshals in Abbottabad, Swat, Swabi, Bannu and Mardan, the SheMeansBusiness program is well on its way to achieving its goal of supporting women-led enterprises.
