Women's Digital League Provides Digital Literacy Training

Founder and president of Women’s Digital League (WDL) Maria Umar aims to provide Pakistani women with digital literacy training through the social enterprise she founded back in 2009. Maria has worked in an online digital outsourcing department for over 9 years and has great passion for helping women achieve economic empowerment. Maria also serves as project manager for WomenX which is a training program for women interested in business, supported by World Bank.

Maria has been previously nominated a Thought Leader from Ashoka Changemaker. Women’s Digital League was awarded the Early Stage Award in ‘Women Powering Work’ competition in Changemakers. Additionally, she has been features as an innovative leader by local and international media including CNBC, Forbes, Virgin, Mashable, Ashoka, Dawn and Express Tribune.

Google Pakistan has profiled Women’s Digital League in online campaigns and has showcased the use of technology for innovation. Maria continues to actively work  for encouraging girls to try STEM through Techonation Challenge from an early age. She has also been recently appointed as Chair of We Create Center’ Think Tank.
